Course, once you break the record, you still gotta walk back…
Sad to say you can’t do the ‘balance-while-walking-on-the-tracks’ competition anymore around here, they dug up all the railway tracks a few years ago. Now there’s a nice trail, which is great, but just not the same.

Railway balancing is a good way to bust an ankle anyway.
Serious, a little slip, you slide off, your ankle bone hits the rail and you chip or fracture an ankle bone. My dad (worked track maintenance for CN for 30+ years) would tell stories of the new guys working on his crew busting their ankle by doing this. I’m pretty sure his blood pressure spiked when he caught people on the rails.
So when I worked track maintenance after high school for a few summer’s I got to see the exact thing happen to a co-worker. On their first day. While wearing high topped steel toed boots. Ouch.
BUT if you are going to do this, reach out to your buddy and hold hands, makes the balance thing much easier.

I seem to have struck a nerve here, Rod… so I guess you never went for long romantic walks with you wife down some scenic railway track?
I can relate to your concern for broken ankles, though. I’ve banned any heel over two inches from the house, daughters aren’t always happy about that. But I’ve no desire to drive them to the hospital with a broken ankle, either. Nor do I want them to be taller than me, but that’s another issue.
I used to love walking the rails. I would walk for miles and miles. Such good memories, thanks!
Yeah, me too! I could never get that far without falling off, but still lots of fun.
