The MCC being the local version of the Salvation Army store, or the Op Shop if you’re in Australia, or the junk shop no matter where you are.
So Calgary was pretty flippin’ awesome, nothing like a good road trip! Got to hang around with good friends Tim and Mitch of Pencil Kings, which is a really cool site for aspiring artists. And I got to finally meet BEN RANKEL face to face (of Wretched Little Creatures fame), which was supper fun, and even better got to go to the Drink and Draw that Ben organized. So huge thanks to him for inviting me, even if I showed up a bit late and kind of turned it into ‘get hammered and scribble’.
The one downside of the Expo was that I was so busy at the booth that I didn’t really get to meet to many other artists, which was a bit of a drag. I think next time I’d like to either bring an assistant or share a booth, just so I could check out some of the other artists a bit more. That being said, I met some cool guys from Victoria who are also doing some hockey-themed artwork, which was really neat. And I hung around a lot with members of a comic collective from Edmonton, so there was lots of Oiler talk.
So yeah, it was a pretty great time, even if we’re still recovering from it all.
